Day 2 - UK wander 🤣🤣

Updated: Apr 10, 2019

An awesome day, a real mixed bag....

Started with a swim at Hathersage outdoor heated swimming pool, been wanting to go there for ages. It was ace and some really nice people to chat to there. 😃

Then off to Alpkit to get my bags and kit sorted, they are great there, always super helpful and interesting staff. 👍🏻

Firefly is still overpacked but at least it’s in an organised way now!!!

After walking 500 miles last year on the Camino Frances with a bag twice the weight i should of carried I’m trying to learn a lesson and not be so stubborn but a bit more practical!!!

So I was cutthroat and sent some stuff back.📮

How I managed to over pack that much I do not know lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So the plan since yesterday’s change was to ride towards Hull and then up to Scotland, but it changed again! I got chatting to a lovely guy off the parish council who pointed out I was nearer the East coast then West. That combined with me thinking I need to be much fitter before I take on the Scottish hills with all the extra weight, I decided to change plan again! At least when I hit the coast and start riding, it’ll be all one way then lol.

So is I started off around lunch time and travelled all afternoon and only did 26 miles!!!!! I say travelled as a lot of time was spent pushing Firefly up massive hills!

Worth it for the views 😍

A few times I literally felt on top of the world, the Peak District is stunning. 🤩

Shattered I headed to a campsite and set up the Tent for our first night and also cooked my first meal on the Jetboil. All very pleasing lol 🤩

Today was about being patient with myself, that I may of not rode as far as I’d liked but that I am here and that in itself is awesome.

I’m really proud of myself for taking on this challenge.

I know I have lots to learn and that’s the main reason for being here.

That and needing to get fit and brave 🤞🏻💚🚴🏼‍♀️🌈
