Day 7 - Ouch, ouch, ouch & heaven!!! 🙏🏻💚
Bear with, this will be the ramblings of a very tired, wind swept and very relaxed Nat. Currently on my 3rd cup of tea in my relaxation heaven. Bliss. Phew 😊
In fact if you really want to read this, grab a cuppa lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So another good night in the Bivvy, nice and cosy again. I got woken a couple of times by other campers shining there light over my way, don’t think people can comprehend that I’m sleeping with my head open to the elements lol.
Last night was the first time I woke and thought scary thoughts, like wow I’m vulnerable and then random stuff like someone could grab me by the hair etc. 😱
So rather then go down that line of thought, I quickly flipped my thinking onto all the positives of my current situation, the sound of the river, the tree branches against the sky, the moon and the stars. Then I focused on where I was holding the tension in my body and then tightened the muscles and relaxed them, releasing the anxiety. The next thing I know I’ve woken and it’s morning, booooooom success. 👍🏻
So I had thought as I was up early this would be a productive day.......ha ha as if lol 🤣🤣
I had 4 lovely people approach me to talk individually at the
Campsite whilst I was packing up. One lady invited me for a cuppa tea and I very usefully found out what solar panel to get for my caravan and had a cuddle with her cute doggy. 😊
Also got distracted by a really funny dog that likes tyre swings. 🙃
A mile down the road and I bump into Sam who is walking the coast. It is always great to chat to like minded people who are also doing different stuff. It was funny as at first I thought he seemed very precious about his personal space and I’m not one to get cup close to strangers. As time went on though it came out that he also smells, ha ha I love it, someone else who pongs, it made me giggle, not sure which one of us smelt worst. 🤣
Randomly at one point today I thought I was back in South Africa.....
I had 2 separate recommendations this morning to go to the Harlech cafe for cake, doh they looked amazing but none where gluten and nut free so just a yummy coffee for me, well that and a beautiful view. 😍
So the last 2 days I have wanted to rest a day but been unable to find a hostel with 2 nights available. Today this was my priority, I smelt and needed to wash my clothes!!! 🤭
More importantly my body needs a rest and is telling me so. This is training to get fitter and build muscle not to push myself too far and then not be fit for the TD. Its my upper body that aches today from all the hike a bike, so pushing a very heavily laden Firefly up some very steep hills. My elbow, the one damaged the Rheumatoid Arthritis was screaming at me today, it was painful to change gears, break, even move it, it kinda goes weak and limp when having a wobble. I knew this joint would be the one I need to push and get it to improve further. My knees although still have some swelling really do thrive off the cycling and they are super happy. 😊👍🏻
So thankfully I found a hostel, empty, just me staying, but this meant I was only doing 27.2 miles today, actually this worked well with my dodgy elbow and riding into a strong headwind for most of the ride. 💨💨💨🚴🏼♀️
Now I was suspicious that it’s empty, it takes 10 people, so why empty when every other hostel in the area is fully booked. Well I now know why, I was recommended by the owner to get food from the co op before heading up. So I spent £24 as starving and plan on eating like a queen 👸 on my day off, so 2 bags of shopping and 1.5 miles to the hostel.
1 mile up the steepest f-ing hill!!!!!!!!!! ⛰
I couldn't do anything other than push as had the shopping, I’d only eaten porridge and a flapjack and so had to stop and eat a pack of olives on the way up. Don’t get me wrong it was a beautiful hike and brought me to a place I love so much I could stay here for ages, but my elbow was not happy with me at all!
Note here, I have been told that I need to get used to being in pain to be able to finish the TD ride, well after years of excruciating arthritis pain, this riding pain is nothing and even my limp screaming painful elbow is nothing. So years of pain have had there uses in training for this ride. 👍🏻🤣🤣
I did warn you it would be a ramble lol
If your still with me high five ✋🏻🙃
I just want to share it all but can’t lol
So pics and then another cuppa for me 👌🏻
So I’m writing this sitting in this window....
Watching sheep 🐑
In my own flat 🌈🏡
Not many pics from the ride today....
Loved these Spirals of Energy, ferns. 🌱
Virtual hug and energies if you made it to the end. 🤗💕
